Prcom agency has determined what annoys journalists

Mass media

Journalists mostly feel annoying when respondents say banal things not meet the direct questions; do not comment on sensitive issues; disrespectful to the other party. All these seemingly obvious things clearly illustrate the study commissioned by the prcom agency.

In a survey conducted among Ukrainian journalists working in different media it became apparent that "wordsmiths" are much calmer to the speaker that candidly admits that he does not know the answer to a question or visibly nervous during the interview.

But not following pre-specified deadlines, being late for an appointment with journalist or the absence of any view and awareness of specifics of the publication is quite a common situation. Journalists do not overlook such mistakes. And try not to apply to this expert in future.

«During 13 years in journalism I can count the respondents who were prepared for the meeting, read my article, even quoted something and mentioned facts from my biography. Frankly, it always impresses and you begin to communicate more sympathetic. And quite often the interviews with prepared respondents are fraught with long-term cooperation and even friendship», - says Elena Kuryachy, columnist for BUSINESS.

As for the inarticulateness then the «writing fraternity» is just fine with it for a long time and knows how to «translate» the interviewee's answers to "Russian". Although, such work does not deliver a great fun. But if the respondent says the case, journalists are ready to forgive him for being tongue-tied. But attempts to use the interview for promotional purposes are unpleasant to every second correspondent.

Elena Iakovenko, pr director of prcom agency, commented on the initiative: «The aim of our study was to identify the most common errors of respondents. In fact, the recipe for the perfect interview is quite simple: careful preparation, an unusual point of view, clearly stated thesis and interesting illustrative material. Add to all that the examples from practice and a fraction of humor. Voila! The ideal interview is in your pocket!».
